Through the works of 95 photographers, including Jane Evelyn Atwood, Sammy Baloji, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Luc Delahaye, Dorothea Lange, Martin Parr, and Wiktoria Wojciechowska, this book directly confronts significant recent historical events and highlights the pivotal role played by photography in the shaping of our perceptions.
\nEach piece is analysed with a description that contextualises the photographers\u2019 work and the stories behind the scenes they present. From civil rights struggles to geopolitical upheavals, from technological advances to major cultural movements, up until the\u00a0everyday lives\u2014sometimes marked by violence, other times by poetry\u2014of anonymous individuals, each photograph poignantly, and sometimes tragically, unveils the destiny\u00a0of humanity as it grapples with the inexorable, often elusive and crushing march\u00a0of History.
